Article Marketing – How to Create a Great Article

Article marketing starts with a great article.  If you are wondering how to create a great article you should begin with identifying the topic you are going to write about.  You want to choose a topic that is relevant to your target market.  Do not pick some esoteric topic that no one cares about.  Choose something timely and relevant if you are going to engage in article marketing.

Article writing is something that takes a little practice.  The goal is to write informative, concise articles that inform and entertain.  Obviously you do not have to write an article that will get you on Oprah’s book club.  The goal is to write something effective and useful.

Most people skim articles so you want to have your articles broken into sections that are clearly marked.  People will read those sections that are most relevant to them.  Your article marketing strategy must include almost be like a collection of mini-articles with a conclusion since some sections may be completely ignored by some website visitors.

Article Marketing – Size Matters

Despite what you may think when it comes to article marketing size does matter.  An article should generally be between 400 and 700 words with most being around 500 words.  Articles under 400 words are too short.  If the topic you are covering does not warrant more than 400 words you should choose a different topic.  Articles over 700 words can be considered cumbersome and too long.  In this case consider breaking the article into several articles.

If you want to know how to create a great article in under-700 words just focus on the meat of the article.  Do not add unnecessary content that adds little if anything to the article.  Have a general idea of what you want to say before you start writing and if possible break it up into at least three sections, each section with its own heading.

Your ability to write a concise article that can be easily skimmed will go a long way towards you having an effective article marketing strategy.
